Short answer: most gutter guard jobs we do land between $3,150 and $8,800. A small one-story home with a basic perforated metal guard can start around $1,200. Big, tall homes with copper gutters and hood-style guards can run much higher. Here is what moves the price, so you can figure out where your home fits before we ever show up.
Gutter guard prices by house size
These are starting ranges for a perforated metal guard on aluminum gutters, the most common setup.
| House size | Typical range |
|---|---|
| Small (under 1,500 sq ft) | $1,200 to $3,500 |
| Medium (1,500 to 2,500 sq ft) | $1,800 to $5,000 |
| Large (2,500 to 4,000 sq ft) | $2,700 to $6,500 |
| Very large (over 4,000 sq ft) | $3,500 to $10,000 |
What pushes the price up or down
- Type of guard. Perforated metal is the starting point. A fine micro-mesh guard (like Valor) runs about 60% more. A reverse curve hood (like Gutter Topper) runs a little more than double.
- Height. A two-story home adds about 10%. Three stories adds about 25%, because of the extra ladder work and safety setup.
- Copper gutters. Copper needs guards made to match, which adds roughly half again to the price.
- Condition of your gutters. Guards go on gutters that are in good shape. If yours are sagging, leaking or rotted behind, it is usually smarter to replace them and add guards at the same time.
Example
A medium-size, two-story home with aluminum gutters and a fine mesh guard usually lands around $3,150 to $8,800.
Things we will tell you up front
- We do not put guards on plastic (PVC) or wood gutters. They are not strong enough to hold them. New seamless metal gutters with guards is the fix.
- No guard means zero maintenance. You will clean a lot less, but every guard needs an occasional check. See Problems With Gutter Guards.
- If you have lots of pine trees, a fine micro-mesh works best. Compare styles on our Gutter Guard Comparison page.
- Warranties on Valor, Gutter Topper and Alu-Rex Double Pro are subject to Udderly Gutters approval. See our warranty page.
