Repair or Replace Your Gutters?
Not every gutter problem means new gutters. Here’s how to tell when a repair will do and when it’s time to replace.
Repair or Replace?
When a repair usually makes sense
- A few leaky corners or seams that can be resealed
- A loose or sagging section that needs new hangers or re-pitching
- A damaged downspout or elbow
- Small dents or a bent section from a ladder, branch or falling ice
- Gutters under about 15–20 years old that are otherwise in good shape
When replacement is usually the better choice
- Leaks in many spots or seams that keep failing
- Rust, holes or cracks along long runs
- Gutters pulling away from the house in several places
- Rotted fascia behind the gutters (the boards need replacing, and new gutters go on after)
- Old sectional gutters with joints every 10 feet
- Plastic (PVC) or wood gutters, which we don’t put guards on
- Overflow in heavy rain because the gutters are too small for your roof
Why seamless is worth considering
Seamless gutters are formed right at your home in one long piece, so there are no joints along the runs to leak. They can be paired with gutter guards and sized for your roof (5″ or 6″).
Adding guards to gutters we didn’t install
We can add guards to existing metal gutters, but warranty coverage may be limited on systems we didn’t build. All warranties are subject to Udderly Gutters approval. Ask your Service Advisor what applies to your home.
Not sure? We’ll tell you honestly.
On every visit we inspect your roofline, fascia, gutters and guards. If a repair will solve it, we’ll say so. If replacement makes more sense, we’ll explain why and give you a written quote. Estimates are always free, with no pressure to buy.

Repair FAQ
Can sagging gutters be fixed?
Often, yes. New hangers and re-pitching can fix a sagging section. If gutters pull away in many places or the fascia is rotted, replacement is usually better.
Should I replace all my gutters or just one section?
If most of the system is sound, repairing or replacing one section can work. If problems show up across the house, a full seamless system is often the better long-term value.
How do I know if my fascia is rotted?
Look for soft or stained wood, peeling paint, or gutters that won’t stay tight. We check every board during your estimate.
Do you repair gutters you didn’t install?
Yes. We repair and replace gutters on homes across our service area. Warranty coverage for guards added to gutters we didn’t install may be limited, and all warranties are subject to Udderly Gutters approval.
